INTRODUCTION 
Karrek Lifestyle is a new style Care Company for Cornwall.
Its beneficiaries are predominately people that would be in receipt of support services for vulnerable people however because of an increase in the use of personal budgets referrals can be received from many different people who require domiciliary support & personal care.

JOB PURPOSE
To support and empower people with learning disabilities to live the life they have chosen for themselves and to support them in activities in which they choose to participate.

To provide age appropriate & dignified support consistent with individual choices and aspirations. To provide care in accordance with current best practices, according to policy and procedures, agreed standards, legislative requirements, relevant regulations under the direction of a manager, and within the financial plans agreed from time-to-time.

To maintain care skills at a current level, and undertake such training and development as may from time-to-time be required to maintain practices as up-to-date.

As an employee of Karrek Lifestyle there is a statutory responsibility for the safeguarding of vulnerable people therefore ensuring that CQC, local authority, NHS & Karrek requirements regarding safeguarding are fully implemented and monitored.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

WORKING WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION
Main Duties (not in any order of priority):
Develop effective working relationships with other employees within the company.
Support an open, positive and inclusive working culture.
Participate in the development of the company’s policies.
Participate in the evaluation of the company against agreed organizational goals, as well as business and quality objectives.
Work to establish effective employer-employee relationships.
Minimize legal risks.
Participate in the maintenance of the company’s management information systems.
Assist in the formulation and implementation of care policies and procedures.
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the standards required by legislation related to the registration of Karrek Community CIC.
Act within the company’s budget based on the company’s objectives and within the projected revenue.
Work in a cost-effective manner.
Be involved in the implementation and maintenance of the company’s quality assurance programme.
Assist in the design and administration of an evaluation of the Care Standards and Care Service Provision.
Systematically solve day-to-day problematical issues which arise.

PEOPLE SUPPORTED
To ensure that support provided is consistent with the company Values.
To assist each person supported to realise the needs and wishes expressed in their Individual Support Plan, particularly relating to social and living skills, work, education, leisure, recreation and where requested, spiritual support and also to help to review and update the Support Plan when necessary
To work towards maintaining high quality support practices through implementation of Karrek’s policies and procedures.
To encourage self-advocacy where possible. Encourage a model of self-care and rehabilitation.
To communicate effectively with people who are being supported, their families and advocates and also with other staff members and other relevant professionals ensuring that correct permissions are being followed.
To support individuals in personal care with dignity and respect as and when needed.
To assist (where appropriate) in the safe preparation of food, following food hygiene training.
To meet the standards laid down in the medication assessment and thereafter administer medication.
To assist in the development of the philosophy, goals and objectives for the Care practice.
Assist in the assessment of the effectiveness of Care implementation and delivery.
Implement action to maintain Care standards.
Work in cooperation with members of multi-disciplinary health teams so as to maximize opportunities for the therapeutic care of people supported.
Ensure the rights of people supported are protected.
Evaluate standards of care competence.
Encourage health promotion within Care strategies.
Record relevant activities in Care Plans.
Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Promote a positive image for services provided and employment within Karrek Community CIC.
