Role - People Advisor

Location – Peterborough or NCC East, Bircham Newton (Norfolk) – 2 days a week in the office

Hours of work – Full-time (35 hours per week) – Business operating hours are between 8am – 6pm.

Contract – Fixed Term

Contract Length – 9 months

Target Salary - £42,642 per annum

Key Responsibilities:

Provide first-line support and expert guidance on employee relations issues, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance management.
Ensure consistent application of HR policies and contribute to their review, update, and development.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee data within the HRIS (Oracle HCM Cloud), acting as a subject matter expert for helpdesk and case management modules.
Support managers through the full employee lifecycle, offering proactive, solution-focused advice to enable business-led decisions.
Monitor, analyse, and report on HR metrics such as turnover and absence to inform strategic direction.
Coach and advise line managers on effective people management and practical application of HR policies.
Contribute to HR initiatives and projects, including employee engagement, wellbeing, and diversity.
Stay current with employment legislation and HR best practices, managing own caseload to ensure timely and effective outcomes

Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:

CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent HR experience.
Strong knowledge of UK employment law and proven ability to manage end-to-end employee relations cases.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with professionalism and discretion in sensitive situations.
Ability to coach and influence managers, using initiative and problem-solving to support effective people management.
Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office, with skills in data interpretation and analysis.

Desirable:

Experience working with Oracle HCM Cloud
Change management experience
Experience in working within a unionised environment

Other requirements:

The location of this role is to be either based in our Peterborough or King’s Lynn office.

Flexibility to travel to other CITB locations when required with reasonable notice given.

Some anti-social hours required, usually travel related.

Expectations of office attendance and travel to fulfil the role will be discussed at interview stage.
