Responsibility of the Estimator - Tiling Package Specialist:
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the estimating function across a variety of tiling and stone projects. You will lead the tender process from initial enquiry through to submission, ensuring competitive and accurate pricing, while maintaining strong relationships with clients and the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for tiling and stonework packages from drawings, specifications, and site visits

  • Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications to assess project scope and requirements

  • Measure and take off quantities accurately using digital tools or manual methods

  • Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations

  • Prepare tender adjudication packs and present pricing strategies for review

  • Liaise with clients, architects, and main contractors to clarify scope and requirements

  • Support the procurement team post-award to ensure smooth project handover

  • Maintain and update cost databases, supplier lists, and pricing libraries

  • Participate in value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities

  • Contribute to business development by supporting preconstruction and bid submissions

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' estimating experience within the construction industry, ideally with a focus on tiling, stonework, or interior finishing packages

  • Proven track record of successful tendering for commercial and residential projects

  • Strong technical understanding of tiling materials, fixing systems, and installation processes

  • Proficient in interpreting drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities

  • Excellent numeracy, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills

  • Confident communicator able to build relationships with clients, designers, and supply chain partners

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software (e.g. Excel, Bluebeam, Causeway, or similar)

  • Self-motivated, organised, and capable of managing multiple tenders simultaneously

  • Qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field desirable
