Bury Council is seeking a dynamic and driven Business Partner to lead and shape the delivery of our Corporate Collection and Support services. About the Role
As Business Partner, you will play a key role in managing multi-disciplinary teams across Council Tax, Business Rates, Housing Rents, Housing Benefits, Council Tax Support, and Accounts Receivable. You’ll work closely with senior managers to implement effective operational plans, drive performance, and deliver service improvements aligned with our Let’s Do It 2030 Strategy.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading and managing the Customer Delivery team to ensure efficient billing, assessment, and payment processes.
- Enhancing income collection through inspection regimes and rent control functions.
- Overseeing exempt and supported accommodation schemes within Housing Benefits.
- Actively contribute to the development and implementation of inclusive customer access and communication plans.
- Driving digital transformation and service agility.
- Ensuring legal compliance and safeguarding the council’s reputation in court and tribunal proceedings.
- Promoting collaborative working and continuous improvement across service areas.
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.
About you

- Has experience managing multi-disciplinary teams, ideally in a collection and support setting.
- Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Understands the importance of adhering to legislation and statutory requirements governing income collection and benefit services.
- Is passionate about public service and committed to delivering high standards.
- Can lead by example and foster a culture of accountability and excellence.
