Learning Disability Team

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to come and join Bury Council, leading the Adult Learning Disability Team. Bury Council are leading the way with integration and this is evidenced in our collocated Learning Disability and Mental Health Teams. We are currently transforming learning disability services, this has involved delivering strength based practice through embedding the progression model in practice, this includes setting personalised goals with people and their support networks.

As the Team Manager, you will provide strategic oversight, expert guidance, and operational management to ensure the delivery of high-quality interventions for adults with learning disabilities and their families.

You will lead a team of social workers with the support of an Assistant Team Manager. Your role will be pivotal in shaping service delivery, developing guidance, and maintaining strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including the specialist health services, advocacy services, providers and community organisations.

With a focus on operational efficiency, you will manage data reporting, quality assurance, and service development. Your leadership will ensure that our statutory duties in relation to the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act are handled effectively and in a person-centred way.

About You

We are seeking an accomplished Manager with a strong knowledge of relevant legislation, and a passion for leadership We are looking for a team manager with the empathy and drive to make a difference, who will support in identifying creative ways to support our community to achieve their goals, and to live in the place they call their home.

You will be a registered Social Worker (SWE).

Key skills and attributes include:

  • Proven experience managing and supervising a professional team.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in report writing and data analysis.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practice.

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.
