Summary

To perform a range of radiotherapy duties and procedures, as detailed within the apprenticeship programme, within the Radiotherapy department under the supervision of a qualified therapeutic radiographer at all times. To ensure that the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017, IRMER 2017 and associated codes of practice and guidance notes together with the Health and Safety at Work Act are understood and adhered to in respect of staff, patients and members of the public. Work within the boundaries of existing competence, adhering to the UHCW Radiation Safety Policy and national and local standard operating procedures/protocols. To assist in the daily workload of the department, liaising with portering service, administration staff and other members of the MDT to facilitate the co-ordination of patient appointments. To ensure that clerical and administrative duties are completed, in compliance with department protocols. To identify the patient as per trust policy. Under the supervision of a registered practitioner safely operate radiotherapy equipment in both the treatment areas as well as in the pre-treatment area. Under the supervision of a registered practitioner carry out machine QA. Report any malfunctions / breakdown of equipment to the appropriate staff.
