Health & Safety Officer - £31,200 - £36,400 per annum (Salaries vary depending on experience)
Hours – 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Department – Estates - Health & Safety
Location – AGP Littlemore, Oxfordshire
What You’ll Be Doing:
Response are recruiting for a Health & Safety Officer within our Estates - Health & Safety Team The primary responsibility of the Health & Safety Officer will be to support the Head of Health, Safety and Fire to promote a safe work environment for employees and safe housing for our clients in compliance with current legislation and industry best practices.
A structured training and mentoring program will be provided to gain the skills required to create effective risk assessments including fire risk assessments, COSHH and DSE assessments, develop polices, conduct investigations and complete audits and inspections throughout the Response organisation. You will be required to complete NEBOSH General Safety within one year of being successfully appointed to this role. On completion, to join IOSH as an affiliate member.

Some of the core duties include:
Maintain H&S and Fire Safety metrics, providing data to complete monthly and quarterly reports.
Assist with H&S and Fire Safety training, inductions and toolbox talks aiming towards delivering training as skills and knowledge develop.
Monitor H&S and Fire Safety QR returns, flagging issues of concern for investigation and ensuring suitable and sufficient make safe arrangements are in place.
Act as AGP appointed person, monitoring first aid provision, fire marshal provision and flagging any issues or improvements required. Ensure all weekly, monthly, 6 monthly and annual inspections are recorded.
Arrange health and safety committee meetings and actively participate.
Assist with completing risk assessments and maintaining a register of assessments, review dates and issue reminders as necessary.
Work collaboratively to continuously improve skills and knowledge of the wider team, supporting ongoing H&S and Fire Safety knowledge throughout Response.
Develop relationships with contractor / partner review meetings and site visits. Being a visible and proactive link between Response and partnerships.
Consistently model H&S and Fire Safety good practice, leading by example and in accordance with IOSH code of conduct.
Attend all mandatory training required to complete and maintain your role, ensuring you keep up-to-date with changes to specific laws and legislation that are relevant to your role.
Comply and remain up to date with all safeguarding policies and procedures for both Adults and Children and Young People.
Comply with all Health and Safety measures to keep individuals we support, visitors, colleagues and yourself safe by conducting regular checks within all areas and departments as required.
Always represent the company in a professional and appropriate manner by considering punctuality, personal appearance and boundaries, including equal opportunities.

A good standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts of a L3 (A level equivalent) qualification.
Experience working to strict deadlines without compromising content and service.
IT literate – able to effectively use Microsoft 365 suite with an interest in expanding proficiency.
Communication Skills - strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively train staff and report findings.
Observation skills with a keen attention to detail - a keen eye for detail to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Analytical skills – ability to analyse data and trends to identify potential safety issues and develop effective solutions.
Able to handle confidential information appropriately.
Strong planning, organisational and time management skills.
Be proactive and identify concerns before they become an incident.
A clean valid driving license for the UK
Able to remain calm when under pressure
Sensitive to the needs of vulnerable individuals
