Company Name: Lansdowne Biotechnics Limited
Salary: £27,000 to £29,000 per annum
Location: Carluddon, St. Austell, Cornwall PL26 8WE
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours of work: 9am - 5pm Monday – Friday (Open to flexible working)
Lansdowne Biotechnics Limited has an exciting opportunity for a fresh or early-stage Graduate Radio Frequency Engineer to join our company, initially working on a project to design and build a wireless power transfer system using novel electronics and physical principles.
You would be working closely with Inductive Power Projection Ltd. creating something completely new and of great benefit to the environment! Working on novel technologies in magnetic resonance, you will be able to interact with academic leaders in the technology, working to realise a product of a proven prototype design in autonomous vehicles, robotics and renewable energy systems. See here for more information: https://inductivepowerprojection.co.uk/
The autonomous vehicles, robotics and renewable energy sectors are exciting places to be with many innovations led by climate change, AI and maintaining security for the world, whilst minimising our impact on the environment by reducing the fossil fuel used in energy generation. Increasing the supply of clean autonomous vehicle and energy technologies is something that the world desperately needs and this project will have a positive impact on our lives. These innovations will work by transmitting high levels of Radio Frequency power across gaps in air, sea and space that are wider than currently possible.
The successful applicant will be tasked with building the power electronics to an existing design that produces kilowatts of power at MHz frequency. Building the magnetic resonator unit to a novel, patented design that is quite extraordinary in its performance. Over the product development phase, the project will start from a simple test-bed design, to get the basics right, learning vital lessons, and then move through stages of increasing sophistication towards a final product that will be used in real-world applications!
This is a very exciting opportunity for the right person to join a team at the very start. We will aim to build your career and reputation with support from leading industry and academic mentors. The project management team has a proven record of accomplishment.
LB aim to begin commercialisation of the products, so there is potential for the successful applicant to become an outstanding product innovator in the sector, leading the production, quality and design teams for LB into the future.
The role will be based in the modern Enterprise Space for Advance Manufacturing in St. Austell.
We are looking for a Graduate in a closely related engineering discipline. This could be electrical, mechanical, renewable or automotive engineering.
The skills of particular benefit would be:
• Prototyping, Soldering, hands-on experience
• Good knowledge of Manufacturing/Fabrication methods
• Relevant experience and/or understanding of R&D building of power electronics
• Mathematical ability
• Experience of CAD and computer simulation - particularly COMSOL for predictive modelling and SolidWorks for mechanical design
Desired Experience and attributes:
• Working in a small team, you will need to be a self-starter who is able to operate remotely from management.
• Someone with an entrepreneurial spirit and a drive to move products through the phases of development to commercialisation
• Someone who has done an apprenticeship in a relevant discipline
• Knowledge of serial and wireless digital communication
• UK Driving License
