School Caretaker
Location: Openshaw
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (1 month)
Start Date: ASAP
Working Hours:
• 13th – 17th Oct: 7:30am – 3:00pm
• 20th – 24th Oct: 9:30am – 5:00pm (except Thurs 23rd: 11:30am – 7:00pm)
• 27th – 31st Oct: 9:30am – 5:00pm (except Thurs 30th: 11:30am – 7:00pm)
• 3rd – 7th Nov: 7:30am – 3:00pm
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and dependable School Caretaker to support a school in the Openshaw area. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth running, safety, and general maintenance of the school site. This is a hands-on role requiring excellent practical ability, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pupils and staff.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain the security and overall upkeep of the school premises.
• Carry out minor repairs, general maintenance, and DIY tasks as required.
• Ensure all areas of the site are clean, safe, and operational.
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and staff as needed.
• Support school events through setup and logistical assistance.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance checks and compliance documentation.
Key Requirements
• Proven experience working as a School Caretaker or Site Manager.
• Strong practical, maintenance, and DIY skills.
• Solid understanding of Health & Safety and compliance procedures (e.g., Fire Safety, Legionella).
• Organised, reliable, and able to manage workloads independently.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Must hold a current Enhanced DBS and be available for immediate start.
