Summary
Receptionist / Care Navigator Apprentice, will be part of the first point of contact Team for our practice, providing front-desk support and administrative assistance to our patents with a friendly and helpful approach.
As a Receptionist / Care Navigator Apprentice, you will be the first point of contact for our practice, providing front-desk support and administrative assistance to our patents with a friendly and helpful approach. You will receive on-the-job training and support to develop your skills while gaining practical experience in a professional office environment. This apprenticeship is ideal for individuals looking to start a career in administration, customer service, or office support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
• Dealing with queries from patients and processing their requests according to practice processes
• Help to maintain a tidy and organised reception area
• Help to process incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries
• Processing prescription requests.
• Be available to cover reception as necessary.
• Process patient samples as and when required
• Assist with data entry, filing, and general administrative tasks
• Support colleagues with administrative duties as required
• Dealing with queries in the practice safehaven email account.
• Scanning patient paper information onto their electronic patient record
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to GDPR and company policies
• Participate in training and development activities as part of the apprenticeship program
Future prospects: There is opportunity to be come a GP Receptionist / Care Navigator at the practice following the apprenticeship.
Desired Skills:
• Previous customer service or office experience (voluntary or informal)
• Interest in business administration or customer service
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Basic IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel)
Personal qualities:
• Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanour
• Punctual, reliable, and well-organized
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Other information: We have different sites across Barnsley – the post can be based at the above site, however if able to drive there is opportunity to move to different sites to gain a wider range of skills for the right candidate should they wish to.

Working week: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm OR
Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm OR
Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm
About the employer: GP Surgery in Barnsley, we have 4 sites across Barnsley and provide services to our patients at each of our sites. We have administration to support our work at all sites and a hub for answering all calls at Brampton.
