An inclusive and nurturing infant school in Wokingham is seeking a Level 3 British Sign Language (BSL) qualified Communication Support Worker to join their dedicated team from November.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support a young deaf or hearing-impaired pupil, helping them access the Early Years or Key Stage 1 curriculum and thrive in a caring school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support for a pupil with hearing impairment
- Use BSL to facilitate effective communication between the pupil, peers, and staff
- Assist with learning activities, both in and out of the classroom
- Collaborate with class teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists
- Promote inclusion, confidence, and independence in the school setting
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Level 2/3 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) - essential
- Experience working with young children in an educational or care setting
- A calm, patient, and child-centred approach
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow support plans
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional communication needs
- Available to work full time, monday to friday. 8.30-3.30. Term time only in an primary school in wokingham.
