Summary

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Carmarthenshire to assist with the appointment of a Workshop Technician on a 2.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Summary:

As a Workshop Technician at Carmarthenshire County Councils Trostre Depot, you will be responsible for the servicing, inspection, maintenance, and repair of the Councils diverse fleet of vehicles. This includes heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), light commercial vehicles, and specialist vehicles fitted with complex hydraulic and electrical systems. You will play a vital role in ensuring that all fleet vehicles operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant legislation and Council standards.

Responsibilities:

Carry out scheduled servicing, inspections, and repairs on a range of Council vehicles, including HGVs, vans, and specialist fleet equipment.
Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety regulations, Council policies, and manufacturer guidelines.
Liaise with supervisors, colleagues, and other departments to prioritise workload and support operational requirements.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the workshop area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly used and maintained.
Undertake other related duties as required to support fleet operations.
Essentials:

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Light or Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering.
Driving Licence: Minimum Category B (car)
Proven experience in servicing, diagnosing, and repairing light and/or heavy vehicles.
Experience working with hydraulic and electrical systems on specialist vehicles (e.g., refuse vehicles, tippers, or plant machinery).
