Senior Social Care Worker

37 hours per week, Shift working over seven days

Permanent

£43,030 – £47,062 / £22.30 - £24.39 per hour (including shift allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)

You will be required to carry out tasks and duties delegated by the Registered Manager in an effective and efficient manner, ensuring at all times the social and domestic care needs of service users.

You will observe the principles of confidentiality in all aspects of practice and ensure the safety and comfort of service users, attending to their general care and wellbeing, including assisting with personal care in keeping with the standards of care required by the Care Inspectorate.

Senior Social Care Workers are required to provide standby cover.

Previous experience in social care is essential, as is experience in Management and supervision of staff.

You should hold an SVQ 4 Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 9 or other practice qualification to meet SSSC registration requirements as a Residential childcare worker with supervisory responsibilities or hold an SVQ3 Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF level 7 and an HNC in Social Care, and achieve an SVQ 4 Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 9 or other practice qualification to meet SSSC registration requirements as a Residential childcare worker with supervisory responsibilities within the first 3 years of taking up post.

You must register with the SSSC as Supervisor in Children’s Services for Children within 3 months of appointment.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirement of the Service.

This post is subject to a Level 2 Disclosure Check with PVG for working in a regulated role with children.
