Summary

Domestic Violence Specialist

Nottingham City | Full-time | Women-only role (Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1)

Are you passionate about empowering women and making a meaningful difference?

We're seeking a Domestic Violence Specialist to provide proactive, culturally sensitive support to women from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities who are experiencing domestic abuse. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the community, offering life-changing support and helping survivors achieve safety, stability and independence.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality casework and safety planning to women affected by domestic abuse.
  • Advocate for survivors with external agencies including housing, social care, health, legal services, MARAC and voluntary partners.
  • Provide outreach-based support across Nottingham City, including regular sessions at Loxley House within the Safer Accommodation team.
  • Help women resettle and build sustainable futures after leaving refuge or temporary accommodation.
  • Contribute to multi-agency meetings and joint casework, ensuring a coordinated and effective response.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records and support service development.
  • Champion equality, diversity, and survivor voice in all aspects of service delivery.

This is a dynamic, outward-facing role where no two days are the same. You'll work closely with statutory and voluntary partners, ensuring survivors can access safe accommodation and the support they need to rebuild their lives.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in supporting women affected by domestic violence, ideally including outreach and work with BAME communities.
  • Skilled in risk assessment, safety planning and casework, with excellent advocacy and communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable about the practical, social, cultural and economic challenges faced by survivors, as well as safeguarding legislation and housing/welfare policies.
  • Able to manage a varied caseload, work independently and build strong partnerships.
  • Committed to feminist values, anti-discriminatory practice and trauma-informed, survivor-centred approaches.
  • Flexible, non-judgemental and collaborative - with a strong commitment to self-care and team wellbeing.

Relevant qualifications such as Women's Aid or SafeLives Level 3 are desirable, but a willingness to work towards these is equally valued. An enhanced DBS check will be required.

Why Join Us?
  • Be part of a passionate team dedicated to empowering women and driving change.
  • Work in a supportive environment that values diversity, innovation and continuous learning.
  • Make a direct, tangible impact in the lives of women and children in Nottingham City.
