Summary

Job Summary:
As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key role in leading and supporting a team to provide high-quality, person-centred care to individuals with a variety of needs, such as learning disabilities, mental health conditions, autism, or physical disabilities. You will act as a role model to support workers and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the service in line with organizational values and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support Delivery
Provide high-quality, compassionate, and person-centred support to service users.
Promote independence, dignity, and choice in everyday life.
Assist with daily activities including personal care, medication, mealtimes, and community involvement.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with service users, families, and other stakeholders.
2. Leadership & Supervision
Support and mentor junior staff, leading by example in all aspects of care and conduct.
Provide supervision, guidance, and on-the-job training to support staff.
Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure accountability within the team.
Help coordinate rotas, shift planning, and cover.
3. Care Planning & Record Keeping
Assist with creating, reviewing, and updating care/support plans and risk assessments.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation in line with policies and procedures.
Monitor outcomes and contribute to care plan reviews and person-centred planning meetings.
4. Safeguarding & Compliance
Promote and maintain a safe and supportive environment, ensuring safeguarding protocols are followed.
Support with incident reporting, investigation, and resolution.
Comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., CQC or equivalent) and contribute to service audits and inspections.
5. Communication & Collaboration
Liaise with healthcare professionals, families, and external agencies as needed.
Communicate effectively within the team and with management.
Participate in team meetings, training, and development sessions.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Previous experience in a support worker or similar care role.
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
Good understanding of safeguarding, mental capacity, and care planning.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexibly including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts.
Desirable:
Experience in a senior or supervisory care role.
Medication administration training.
Full driving licence (if service requires).
