Summary

On behalf of our client located in North Ayrshire, we are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join their team on a full-time basis.

The main objective of the role is to operate machinery for the production of plain (blank) labels, ensuring that all products align with customer specifications and adhere to PS9001 quality procedures. This position requires setting up jobs, efficiently operating equipment, and maintaining high-quality standards throughout the entire production process.

Key Responsibilities

-Produce plain (blank) labels according to customer specifications and finish them accordingly.
-Adhere to PS9001 procedures to maintain quality and traceability during production.
-Mount flexible dies onto magnetic cylinders based on job requirements.
-Set and adjust score and slitting knives for precise label finishing.
-Interpret and follow artwork, job specification sheets, and quality control cards to ensure product compliance.
-Perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimise downtime.
-Conduct regular quality checks throughout production to ensure adherence to standards.
-Assist in training and development initiatives for new staff or cross-training purposes.
-Maintain a clean, organized work area that complies with health and safety procedures.
-Promptly report any non-conformance or machine issues to the Team Leader or Supervisor.

Skills & Experience Required

-Previous experience in a label printing or finishing environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
-Familiarity with flexible dies, magnetic cylinders, and the setup of score/slitting knives.
-Ability to understand and follow job cards, specifications, and quality standards.
-Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset.
-Mechanical aptitude with basic maintenance experience.
-Effective time management skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
-A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Training will be provided in the following areas, where required...

-PS9001 Quality Procedures
-Die and knife setup
-Machine operation and basic maintenance
-Reading and interpreting job specifications and QC cards
