Pay: £12.51 per hour
Hours: 8 hours within a 24-hour period
Days: 5 out of 7 per week (including weekends onrotation)
Location: North Devon District Hospital
About the Role
We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Casual Porter Driver to join our Portering & Support Services team at North Devon District Hospital.
You’ll play a keypart in keeping the hospital running smoothly — safely transporting patients,equipment, and materials across the site, while ensuring a professional andcaring service for everyone you assist.
No two days are thesame, and your role will involve driving duties as well as general porteringtasks around the hospital.
Main Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients, equipment, and materials within the hospital.
- Drive and maintain hospital vehicles — carrying out regular checks and reporting any defects.
- Deliver post, specimens, medical records, and supplies across departments.
- Assist with moving and handling duties (full training provided).
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment and comply with all infection control procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
What We’re Looking For
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Physically able to carry out moving and handling tasks.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Previous portering or NHS experience is desirable but not essential — full training will be provided.
- Flexible and reliable, with a professional approach to work.
