Summary
Elwood Recruitment are seeking an experienced Deputy Manager to join a well-established children’s residential service in the Oldbury area. The home provides high-quality care and support for children and young people with learning difficulties, ensuring they have a safe, nurturing, and positive environment in which to thrive.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who has strong knowledge of residential childcare and the confidence to step into a leadership role. You will support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the service, staff supervision, and ensuring the home meets all regulatory and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Registered Manager in the delivery of a safe, effective, supportive and child-centred care that aligns with every child matters, the children’s act.
Ensure compliance with Ofsted requirements, safeguarding legislation, and the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
Promote and protect the wellbeing of staff, children, and young people in care.
Lead and motivate the staff team, providing guidance, supervision, coaching, mentorship, and training.
Represent the service in meetings with local authorities, commissioners, and other external professionals.
Contribute to service development and continuous improvement, aiming for ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted ratings.
Monitor, maintain and increase appropriate occupancy levels, balancing business needs with the needs of the children placed.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Children’s Residential services.
Level 3 NVQ/QCF Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to use IT systems confidently.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable:
Supervisory or management experience in a children’s residential service.
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and learning disability support.
Knowledge of quality assurance processes and performance monitoring.
