HVAC Design Engineer (230dm) – Bury -Manchester- £40,000 DOE
Our client is looking for an HVAC Design Engineer to join their team in Bury.
For over 150 years, they've delivered engineering solutions to some of the nation’s most iconic infrastructure projects — across Defence, Energy, and Transport sectors.

Mission:
This role is ideal for military veterans with a background in technical operations, engineering, or mechanical systems who want to apply their problem-solving skills, precision, and teamwork mindset in a new mission, designing and delivering high-performance, energy-efficient HVAC systems for critical infrastructure and facilities.
Your Role:
As an HVAC Design Engineer, you’ll take ownership of the planning, design, and development of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across a variety of complex projects. You’ll ensure our systems are efficient, sustainable, and compliant with all relevant standards, supporting both the technical integrity and operational reliability of each site.
Key Responsibilities:
•Design HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment layouts.
•Perform heating and cooling load calculations using industry-standard software.
•Select HVAC equipment and prepare technical specifications.
•Produce detailed design drawings and documentation (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM).
•Ensure compliance with building codes, AWE and Sellafield standards, and energy regulations.
•Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
•Conduct site inspections, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
•Prepare cost estimates and support procurement processes.
•Apply sustainable design principles and energy-efficient practices.
What You Bring:
Essential:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent experience).
•Strong analytical and technical skills.
•Excellent communication and teamwork ability.
• Ability to gain and hold SC clearance
Desirable:
•Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards it.
•CIBSE membership or similar professional affiliation.
•Master’s Degree (preferred, not required).
