Summary
FM Conway is currently recruiting for a Trainee Project Manager – 15 month FTC to join our dynamic Transport for London division. This exciting opportunity involves supporting the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects from concept through to completion, as part of the Transport for London Highway Maintenance and Projects Framework. The is a full-time, fixed-term contract and will be based at our Beddington Lane office in in Croydon, South London.
The duties of the Trainee Project Manager – 15 month FTC will include:
-Supporting the Senior Contract Manager in the end-to-end delivery of schemes on the TfL Highway Maintenance and Projects Framework (HMF), from concept through to design, delivery, and stakeholder engagement
-Maintaining clear and consistent communication with the Senior Contract Manager and client, ensuring they are fully informed on all aspects of scheme progress and delivery
-Assisting with early planning stages of projects, supporting both clients and internal teams from pre-programming through to completion
-Supporting the permitting process for works on TfL roads, including coordination and liaison with relevant stakeholders
-Assisting in the management and coordination of programme schedules, working collaboratively across internal departments to ensure timely delivery
-Contributing to the development and maintenance of the Schemes Master Programme using Microsoft Project, covering the full project lifecycle
-Ensuring all health and safety documentation is in place, including risk assessments, method statements, and site-specific safety plans
-Monitoring performance and progress of works against contract requirements, supporting KPI tracking and reporting in collaboration with the performance team
What skills and experience do you need?
We are looking for a Trainee Project Manager – 15 month FTC that is computer literate with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project. Experience working with NEC, JCT, and ICE contracts is highly desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels are essential, along with a strong customer focus and commitment to delivering outstanding service. The successful candidate must be able to operate collaboratively, ensuring effective engagement with all stakeholders. Proven ability to work under pressure and excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks effectively, are required.
