Summary

Job Purpose To provide high-quality, evidence-based primary care services to the patients of Quarry Bank Medical Centre, contributing to the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care. The post holder will also play a key role in supporting medical education and the professional development of learners within the practice. This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team in a teaching environment that values compassion, learning, and innovation. Key Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities Provide comprehensive, evidence-based medical care to the registered patient population. Manage a range of acute, chronic, and preventive health issues through both face-to-face and remote consultations. Undertake home visits and clinical reviews as required. Prescribe medicines safely and appropriately in line with local and national guidance. Contribute to clinical audits, QOF, IIF, and quality improvement initiatives. Support the See and Treat Practitioner and wider multidisciplinary team to ensure timely access to care. Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records using EMIS Web and Accurx systems. Participate in safeguarding processes and act in accordance with local and national policies. Contribute to the management of referrals, results, and repeat prescriptions within the shared clinical team structure. Provide leadership and advice on complex clinical cases when required. Educational and Training Responsibilities Act as a GP Trainer or support the GP training programme while working towards full trainer approval. Provide supervision, mentorship, and feedback to GP registrars, medical students, physician associate trainees, and other learners. Contribute to the practices teaching and development activities, including tutorials, clinical supervision sessions, and quality assurance reviews. Support and uphold the educational values of the practice in alignment with the GMC, HEWM, and university standards. Participate in continuous professional development and maintain evidence of ongoing learning and reflection. Team and Leadership Responsibilities Work collaboratively with colleagues including GPs, nurses, HCAs, First Contact Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Mental Health Practitioners, Social Prescribers, and the See and Treat Practitioner. Contribute to team meetings, multidisciplinary case reviews, and practice development discussions. Participate in shared decision-making and uphold a positive, solutions-focused team culture. Support practice resilience and service continuity during periods of staff absence or system change. Encourage open communication and contribute to a supportive learning environment. Service Development and Quality Improvement Contribute to practice initiatives aligned with the NHS Long Term Plan, including preventative care, digital transformation, and integration with community and secondary care services. Identify and implement improvements in clinical pathways, patient access, and continuity of care. Participate in data analysis and audits to support service evaluation and redesign. Contribute to the development of new or enhanced services that meet the needs of the local population. Support public health initiatives, vaccination campaigns, and health promotion activities. Governance and Professional Standards Work in accordance with the GMC Good Medical Practice framework. Adhere to NHS England, ICB, and local CCG policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality and data protection standards in line with the UK GDPR and Caldicott principles. Participate in annual appraisals and support revalidation processes. Promote a culture of safety and quality, reporting and acting on significant events and patient feedback. Comply with infection control, prescribing, and clinical documentation standards.
