Following a restructure the Council are currently recruiting for some key leadership roles in their finance team. These positions will be instrumental in developing a finance team with a business partnering culture focused on continuous improvements to ensure they are providing the financial information that senior leaders need to make informed decisions, helping achieve the Councils ambitious plans.

The Strategic Finance Lead (Corporate Resources) reports to the Assistant Director of Finance and plays a pivotal role in delivering financial resilience and strategic direction for the Council. The role will lead and inspire a team of Corporate Accountancy Managers across financial planning, treasury, close down, capital and systems. Key responsibilities will include;

  • Leading on the Council’s developing the Medium-Term Financial Strategy, capital programme, and statutory accounts.
  • Provide high-level financial advice and analysis to Members, Executive Directors and senior stakeholders
  • Oversee treasury management including setting the strategy
  • Embedding strong financial controls across the Council

To be suitable for the role you need to be a fully qualified accountant with experience in leading and developing technical finance teams in a complex setting, ideally in the public sector. Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work confidently with senior stakeholders and external partners is also essential.
