Summary
Location: Brynteg Surgery, Ammanford, SA18 Hours: 37 hours per week (no weekends or bank holidays) Salary: £15.50£16.50 per hour, depending on experience Reports to:Lead Pharmacist Job Summary The Pharmacy Technician will work as an integral member of the clinical team to support safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines within the practice. This role combines clinical, administrative, and patient-facing elements - helping optimise prescribing, improve patient safety, and reduce GP workload. The post holder will run clinics, assist with audits and medicines optimisation, handle pharmaceutical queries, and provide support to both the prescribing and dispensing processes. As an independent practice, we value every voice - youll have scope to shape how the role develops and contribute to practice-wide improvement work. Main Duties and Responsibilities Undertake medicines reconciliation for new patients, care homes, and hospital discharges. Run and document new patient and DOAC clinics. Manage repeat prescription reauthorisations in line with practice protocols. Handle pharmaceutical and shared-care queries, ensuring safe communication between the practice, hospitals, and community pharmacies. Support care home medication reviews, HRT forms, and acute medication requests. Assist with medication audits, quality improvement projects, and prescribing safety work. Provide guidance and support to trainee pharmacists and prescription clerks. Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring compliance with professional and information-governance standards. Contribute to training and education sessions within the practice. For the right candidate, there may be the opportunity to train in phlebotomy to support clinical capacity.
