Summary
We are seeking an experienced Cardiac MRI Radiographer to join our Imaging Department. Working closely with the Cross sectional imaging manager to ensure the delivery of a high-quality imaging service, with a particular focus on cardiovascular MRI.
At Harefield Hospital, around 85% of our imaging workload is dedicated to cardio-thoracic scans, supporting our busy primary angioplasty service and advanced heart failure and cardio-thoracic transplant centre.
• Undertake high-quality cardiac MRI examinations, ensuring patient safety and excellent clinical standards.
• Support the delivery of cardio-thoracic imaging for a diverse patient group.
• Gain further experience in non-cardiac MRI modalities.
• Participate in the extended working day to meet service demands.
• You must have proven experience in cardiac MRI.

Imaging department has 2 CT scanners and 2 MRI Scanner performing variety of highly specialised cardio-thoracic imaging.
Key Responsibilities
• Patient Care
• Provide reassurance and clear explanations to patients undergoing examinations, ensuring they understand the procedure and feel at ease.
• Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively, adapting to overcome any barriers to understanding.
• Clinical Duties
• Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, while also being able to work competently and independently during out-of-hours duties.
• Advise physicians during procedures where required, offering guidance on optimal imaging techniques and positioning.
• Deliver high-quality imaging services, ensuring competent use of all MRI equipment.
• Manage and prioritise the daily workload to meet service demand.
• Participate fully in the extended working day and out-of-hours rota.

Job summary:
The post holder will work closely with the Superintendent Radiographer to deliver a high-quality MRI service at Harefield Hospital, where the majority of work focuses on cardiac MRI for patients with complex cardio-thoracic conditions.
Key Duties:
• Provide excellent patient care and communication, reassuring and supporting patients throughout their scans, including those with anxiety or claustrophobia.
• Perform and assess MRI procedures (particularly cardiac MRI), including image post-processing, volumetric analysis, IV cannullation, and emergency patient support when required.
• Collaborate with clinicians, medical staff, and other departments to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered service delivery.
• Train, supervise, and support radiographers, undergraduate students, and visiting doctors in MRI techniques, safety, and clinical practice.
• Contribute to research, departmental audits, and the development of protocols, policies, and quality assurance processes.
• Safely manage complex MRI equipment, monitor performance, and report or resolve technical issues as part of the Quality Assurance programme.
• Participate in extended hours, weekend, and out-of-hours rotas, working both independently and as part of the team.
• Maintain compliance with Trust policies, professional standards, and data protection requirements while ensuring accurate use of PACS, EPIC, and related systems.
