Summary

Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with an extremely inclusive and supportive high school in Northwich as they are looking to appoint an experienced and reliable teaching assistant to offer support to pupils within an ASD resource base. This is a full-time long-term contract where you will play an integral part in the education of a small class of 15 pupils with ASD (moderate to complex).

Your new role
This is an extremely supportive and welcoming school that requires you to offer bespoke support to a group of pupils with EHCP's within a resource base. The pupils you will be supporting all have a similar diagnosis (ASD) but have different needs, ranging from low to high functioning. You will offer bespoke 1:1 support, adapting your approach to best suit pupils' individual needs, personalities and routines. You will plan, prepare and deliver interventions in key areas including regulation, behavioural, and academic. Due to the needs of your pupils, they will at times present challenging behaviours and become deregulated. This is not a personal attack but how your pupils may communicate triggers. In the event that this happens, you will implement positive behaviour strategies such as movement breaks, brain breaks and regulation strategies before reintegrating back into learning. A small number of pupils are also struggling with communication and non-verbal. You will also offer speech and language interventions and use Makaton to build their understanding of the English language.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, be willing to undergo a full enhanced DBS check, have relevant referenceable experience, and:

  • Experience supporting ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorders) is essential
  • Experience delivering SALT and using Makaton
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract (32.5 hours per week)
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential

What you'll get in return
If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a number of amazing benefits, that include:

  • Free training
  • Upfront cost of DBS covered
  • Long-term contract
  • Competitive rate of pay
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Company pension
  • On site parking
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
