Summary
Maintain expertise and knowledge to the Trust regarding safeguarding adults and children. Provide highly visible safeguarding leadership within the Trust to promote high standards of patient safety and patient experience always incorporating the Think Family model of safeguarding. Encourage Trust wide partnership working on Domestic Abuse (DA) considering Think Family model of safeguarding. Support the Head of Safeguarding in leading on Exploitation, Position of Trust (POT) Safeguarding and Prevent across the Trust. Contribute to the identification and management of risk by provision of expert knowledge and advice to the Trust regarding safeguarding adult guidelines, procedures, policy, legislation and best practice guidance. Contribute to the delivery and relevant written reporting of safeguarding adults activity including safeguarding adults reports and quarterly reports to clinical governance teams on an ongoing basis. Implement and maintain a safeguarding adult training strategy for the Trust and to ensure the provision and quality of training delivered to staff from induction to more advanced training needs. To support the Learning Disability agenda in the Trust. To support the Head of Safeguarding to ensure that Domestic Homicide Reviews (DHR), Safeguarding Adults Reviews (SAR) Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews (CSPR) are completed and submitted within appropriate timelines To be responsible for the dissemination and implementation of learning across the Trust from SARs, CSPR DHRs and any other significant incidents where there are safeguarding concerns. Contribute to multi-agency development within the Trust and ensure the compliance of Local Adult Safeguarding Partnerships/Boards (LSCB/P) reporting strategies in accordance with statutory guidance. Support the Trust to exercise its responsibilities regarding the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) process in relation to DA and other service developments in the field of domestic abuse Disseminate learning and provide education on the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) across the Trust to ensure that there is a clear understanding of capacity and how this can impact on safeguarding functions. Participate in the implementation of appropriate processes to monitor Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). To identify and champion safeguarding adults development and innovation. To overcome staff and public barriers to understanding safeguarding and protecting adults in need of care and support. Proactively contribute to the Adult and Child Safeguarding Committee and Operational Group meetings. The post holder will ensure the promotion of equality and diversity, social inclusion of vulnerable adults, and ensure that they are incorporated into all aspects of Safeguarding practice across the Trust. Collaborate with the corporate nursing team and Divisional Clinical teams regarding adults with care and support needs, Patient Safety and Experience workstreams i.e. pressure ulcers, safe discharge, dementia awareness, hydration and nutrition etc. To provide short-term cover for colleagues during periods of leave.
