We’re passionate about making Suffolk safer and more resilient. As our new Emergency Planning Officer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council, as well as other Suffolk local authorities, to prepare for and respond to emergencies. Your work will help ensure our communities are ready for whatever comes their way.

What you’ll be doing
- Helping councils meet their statutory duties under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
- Developing and maintaining contingency plans and emergency arrangements.
- Delivering engaging training and practical exercises for staff and partners.
- Ensuring emergency equipment and infrastructure are ready and maintained.
- Collaborating with colleagues across Suffolk to build strong, effective partnerships.

About you
We hope you’ll bring:
- Experience in crisis management or emergency planning.
- Detailed knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
- A sound understanding of how local government operates.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work confidently with a range of stakeholders.
- Evidence of professional competence in emergency preparedness and management.
