Summary

Salary: Grade 3, £19,082 - £19,687 per annum. £12.85 - £13.26 per hour

33 hours 15 minutes per week, term time plus 1 week working 39 weeks per year

6 ½ hours Tuesday to Friday - 8.30am to 3.30pm

7 hours 15 minutes on Monday - 8.30am to 4.15pm

JOB TITLE: Learning Support Assistant

JOB PURPOSE: To support the teaching and learning of an individual child, small group or whole class.

LINE MANAGEMENT: Reporting to the Headteacher

DISCLOSURE: Enhanced DBS

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • To support the school vision, aims and motto.
  • To follow and promote both the Christian and British Values.
  • To follow the school code of conduct and adhere to all school policies.
  • To have high standards and expectations of both behaviour and quality of work.
  • To support the school’s ethos regarding equal opportunities.
  • To support with the preparation and delivery of lessons, small group sessions or 1:1 tuition.
  • To communicate effectively with the class teacher and offer regular feedback.
  • To contribute to pupil assessment, including B-Squared assessment if applicable.
  • To ensure that pupils have the right resources to carry out their work.
  • To address any non-negotiable errors in work and encourage the children to self-edit their work.
  • To support the teacher by providing 1:1 / 1:2 or small group tuition when needed.
  • To support pupils with the development of their own self-confidence and well-being.
  • To ensure that the classroom is a tidy and safe environment to work in.
  • To maintain good punctuality, including being ready for work at the correct start time, returning to class promptly after breaks and being on time for duties.
  • To be professional and confidential when dealing with sensitive issues, especially regarding PHSE and safeguarding.
  • To take part in the school performance management system.
  • To undertake training as required.
  • To work as part of a team and to have effective partnerships with all stakeholders.
  • To engage in school self-evaluation and support school improvement.
  • To report safeguarding of children on CPOMS.
  • To check CPOMS everyday / other day for updates.
  • To cover playground / lunchtime duties as timetabled.
  • To carry out any duty as directed by Headteacher / SLT.
