Summary
We are seeking an experienced senior interventional radiographer to join us at the John Radcliffe Hospital (SEC Surgical Elective Centre – Hybrid Vascular Theatres, JR John Radcliffe – IR Suites). Applications are welcomed from motivated and enthusiastic senior radiographers, current deputy superintendents and the like who are committed about developing and improving upon the established safe, high quality, patient care environment that exists. The successful candidate will demonstrate high standards of radiographic quality, knowledge, experience, integrity, and compassion within the interventional radiology speciality.
This post holder will support a high-quality interventional radiography service at the John Radcliffe (JR) site, ensuring senior specialist knowledge is shared between the new Surgical Elective Centre (SEC) Hybrid Theatres and the JR Interventional Suites. The role includes deputising for the JR IR Superintendent, leading by example to uphold professional and technical standards, and providing leadership and support across the Trust for vascular imaging.
The post holder will:
• Oversee radiographic practice in both the SEC Hybrid Theatres (currently under construction) and the JR IR suites.
• Work closely with the IR Superintendent to maintain senior teaching presence and smooth operations in both locations.
• Share responsibility for departmental management and future service planning.
• Foster an environment of high-quality care for patients and staff.
• Provide guidance, supervision, and training for radiographers and assist with training for nurses and students regarding radiation safety.
• Act as Radiation Protection Supervisor for the SEC Hybrid Theatres, ensuring compliance with IRMER2017, IRR17, Health and Safety, COSHH, Data Protection, and related legislation.
Previous experience deputising for superintendents and evidenced departmental leadership is highly desirable. While this post is full time, flexible working can be discussed.

This post is full time 37.5 hours / week.
