Summary

Location: Office base in Lewes; working flexibly between the office, site visits and home

Salary: £33,951 plus £1000 annual essential car user allowance

Hours: 37 hours per week

What you’ll be doing:

We are a specialist landlord of supported housing for around 550 tenants and shared owners across Sussex, often in partnership with Local Authorities and other Registered Providers providing housing for vulnerable individuals across the Sussex area.

We provide support for our tenants to help them manage their tenancy and maintain their home. In addition, around one in six of our tenants receive support from our learning disability support services.

Working within a dedicated and experienced housing management team and reporting to the Manager, Housing Services, you will work collaboratively with in-house support staff and key stakeholders to provide a sensitive and responsive service to tenants with identified support needs.

You will ensure that rents and service charges are well managed and that tenancy issues and anti-social behaviour issues are responded to appropriately and in line with housing regulations.

Whilst we are ideally looking for someone with a background in Supported or General Needs Housing, we will also consider applications from applicants without a housing background if they can demonstrate skills which meet our person specification.

Perks and benefits:

Health cost cash-back scheme: access to our health insurance scheme which covers dental, optical, physical therapies and other medical treatments with the option to add greater levels of cover

Interest-free loans: assistance with larger costs that arise such as tenancy deposits, season travel tickets or buying a car.

Access to the Easit Network: discounts and incentives on train, bus and car journeys such as 15% off eligible daily and season rail tickets.

Blue Light card: access to discount services for the social care sector with savings across thousands of online shops, restaurants, and high-street vendors.

Free advice and counselling service: confidential emotional support and practical guidance from our independent telephone service.

25 days paid holiday plus bank holidays.

Knowledge, skills and experience
What you’ll need for the role:

Have the skills to provide a person-centred, efficient and responsive housing management service to tenants with support needs.

Great communication and organisation skills as well as demonstrating initiative and being solution focused.

Being able to manage the work of a Housing Assistant and work collaboratively with them to ensure that all essential tasks across the patch are completed in a timely manner.

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which will be paid for by Southdown.

A full driving licence is essential along with access to your own vehicle or a vehicle insured for you.

What would be nice:
Experience in tenancy sustainment support, working with vulnerable adults with complex mental health needs.

Good understanding of Safeguarding and housing law.

A working knowledge of Health and Safety and Compliance and understanding of the associated legal framework.

Knowledge of property maintenance and repairs.
