Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Extended Scope Physiotherapist to join the Hillingdon Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Service. This pivotal role offers the chance to work at the forefront of community care, providing advanced clinical expertise and professional leadership.
The Clinical Service Lead will be expected to lead and manage the Community MSK Physiotherapy Service, including the provision of specialist Pelvic and Women’s Health Physiotherapy, Vestibular Rehabilitation, or other MSK-related teams. The role ensures delivery of high-quality, personalised, and accessible services to patients who meet the clinical referral criteria, in line with NWL ICS commissioned service levels.
You will play a key role in advancing the team’s clinical practice, ensuring delivery of evidence-based interventions through direct patient care, advanced assessment, clinical supervision, training, and education. The role also involves contributing to service development by leading audits, research, and service evaluation to ensure practice remains responsive to the needs of patients, families, and carers.
Applicants must be HCPC-registered Physiotherapists with extensive post-graduate experience in adult services, advanced clinical skills in patient-centred assessment and intervention, and proven ability to lead teams within the community setting.
The Extended Scope Practitioner will work as part of the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy service, along with an operational team lead, to deliver advanced clinical service within the community.
This post will involve undertaking comprehensive assessments, including the interpretation and integration of complex clinical information from a variety of sources such as advanced diagnostic tests, imaging, and clinical examination. You will provide specialist interventions for individuals, their families, and carers, ensuring evidence-based, patient-centred care.
The role will also include contributing to the training, education, and supervision of colleagues within the multidisciplinary team, as well as playing an active part in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives. Regular clinical supervision and opportunities for continued professional development will be provided to support your extended scope of practice.

You will work from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm , providing a service for Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in the Hillingdon area. Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
To provide a highly specialist MSK physiotherapy service, including advanced assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, implementation, and evaluation of outcomes for patients referred to the Community MSK Physiotherapy Service.
To utilise extended scope skills where appropriate, such as requesting diagnostic imaging, administering injections, prescribing (if qualified), and providing advanced clinical interventions to support timely and effective patient management.
To contribute to enabling other staff, service users, and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by promoting a supportive and inclusive clinical environment.
To provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and consultation as appropriate, functioning as a lead specialist within MSK physiotherapy.
To lead and participate in service evaluation, clinical audit, and research to ensure continuous quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
To work as an autonomous practitioner within HCPC and CSP guidelines, adhering to local and national policies and procedures, and exercising professional responsibility in interpreting these within defined parameters.
To agree outcomes with the Clinical/Professional Lead and take responsibility for delivering them effectively, ensuring that service objectives and patient needs are met.
