Summary
Behaviour Mentor - new SEND School - Salford - Step Teachers
Start: ASAP (Sept 2025) | Pay: £95-105/day DoE (paid PAYE)
Hours: Full-time | Mon-Fri | 8:30am-3:30pm
Contract: Temp-to-Perm opportunity
Step Teachers are working with a brand-new SEND school in Salford that supports pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours. This is an exciting chance to join a school from the ground up, helping to create a safe, structured, and engaging environment for young people aged 11-16 who have found it difficult to succeed in mainstream settings.
This role is perfect for someone who is confident, resilient, and empathetic, with the ability to defuse conflict, support emotional regulation, and act as a positive role model. You'll play a key part in helping pupils develop strategies to manage behaviour, build trust, and re-engage with learning and personal development.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you'll:
- Work closely with pupils 1:1 and in small groups to support behaviour and engagement
- Use de-escalation strategies to manage challenging situations safely
- Support teachers and pastoral staff in creating a positive learning environment
- Mentor pupils to build confidence, resilience, and social-emotional skills
To be successful, you'll need:
- At least 3 months' experience supporting children/young people with additional needs (SEMH, SEND, or behavioural)
- A calm, proactive, and supportive approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
