Summary


We are looking to recruit a Mechanical Technicianto work as a member of a multi-tasking maintenance team providing professional and technical expertise within an effective and efficient customer focused maintenance service to provide a fit for purpose estate and environment to all Trust owned, leased or rented properties.

This is an exciting time to join the trust as we are starting a completely new hospital on both major sites in the next three years so it will be a leading mental health hospital

The post holder is accountable within the facilities Department to ensure adequate processes and procedures exist for the improvement, promotion and delivery of safe, quality and value for money services. This responsibility extends to contributing to all necessary auditing procedures and ensuring the Maintenance Department promotes itself through effective communication to all customers.

Initially based at Springfield Hospital and will be required to be based or work in any property owned, leased or rented by the Trust.

• To be responsible for attending pre contract and progress meetings to provide specialist advice on potentially complex matters such as mechanical regulations.

• To participate as a member of the PEAT, advising on maintenance issues.

• To be responsible for liaising and negotiating with contractors regarding minor project work.

• To manage a process of effective communication/team briefing, with staff under sphere of responsibility.

• To communicate with all disciplines in an effective manner using tact and diplomacy in often difficult situations ensuring confidentiality is maintained when appropriate.

• To communicate with various agencies, contractors and staff to arrange deliveries ensuring prompt receipt where necessary and ensure all complaints are dealt with professionally and resolved within appropriate timescales.

• To communicate with departmental colleagues and Ward Managers and attend meetings on a regular basis to provide a customer focused service.

• To promote the delivery of safe, quality, value for money Maintenance Services across the Trust.

• To enforce statutory and mandatory requirements relating to Maintenance services.
