The Salvation Army responds to immediate local needs such as services for children, older people, homeless people and people affected by addictions.Oxfordshire Corps Salvation Army launches its Christmas Toy appeal with the sole purpose of providing toys to children who this year will not receive anything at all. Salvation Army works with Oxford Council, Social Services and all of the family workers at the schools in Oxfordshire. Last year the scheme provided enough toys for 1,400 children (that is over 6,000 toys) in one of our other central Corps. It is worth stressing that this is not a top-up of toys they will be receiving already. These toys are ONLY for children who will genuinely receive nothing at all.Oxfordshire Corps is looking to recruit a Temporary Community Assistant to support its busy Christmas Toy Appeal period. This position is for a 5 week period only, commencing w/c 27th November and ending on Thursday 21st December. The ideal working hours will be as below although there may be some flexibility for the right candidate:Week 1 - w/c 17th November - IT training & induction (approx.12 hours)Week 2 - w/c 24th November - 28<sup>th</sup> November : 9am - 3pm (30 hours)Week 3 - w/c 1st December - 5th December : 9am - 5pm (40 hours)Week 4 - w/c 8th December - 12th December : 9am - 5pm (40 hours)Week 5 - w/c 15th December - 19ht December : 9am - 3pm (30 hours)The primary role involves creating toy parcels which happens in weeks 3 and 4. The secondary role which is in week 2 is collating the paperwork, chasing schools, the council and social services for paperwork, getting labels ready and general planning.
