Summary
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Somerset to assist with the appointment of a Cleansing Operative, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £12.45 - £16.10 per hour
Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Cleansing Operative to join Somerset Councils street cleansing team. This is a hands-on role requiring physical work in all weather conditions to help keep the local environment clean and safe. Duties include litter and dog bin emptying, litter picking, manual sweeping, fly tip removal, and other cleansing operations across the Mendip area.
The successful candidate will need to start early mornings at the Glastonbury depot, work flexibly including weekends, and hold a full UK driving licence to operate council vehicles and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Carry out street cleansing activities such as litter picking, sweeping, bin emptying, fly tip removal, and toilet cleaning.
Operate tools, barrows, and cleansing equipment in line with safety instructions and council procedures.
Perform daily vehicle checks.
Maintain accurate records including timesheets, defect reports, incident forms, and work logs.
Report progress and issues to supervisors and operational management.
Requirements:
Good standard of general education.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Ability to work early mornings and weekends.
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
