About the role
Wiltshire Police are looking for passionate and experienced investigators to be part of a dedicated team on a 12-month fixed term contract with the potential to extend.
You’ll act as an investigating officer as designated by the chief officer in major investigations providing a range of skills and abilities to the senior investigating officers.
You must be prepared to undertake and pass a Force driving test to become a Force Authorised Driver and you will be required to attend all necessary and relevant training courses in respect of your employment to ensure compliance with the policies of the Force.
Applications are welcomed from retired detectives and investigators with PIP2 qualification.
What you will be doing
Interview suspects and witnesses in accordance with the Criminal Justice Act and to compile written reports and statements of evidence. Witness reports may be in the form of a statement or video recorded interview.
Assist in the preparation of prosecution or other evidential files for the Crown Prosecution Service, Coroner or other relevant authority.
Carry out the role of exhibits officer or deputy for major incident enquiries in accordance with the Major Incident Room Standard Administrative Procedures (MIRSAP) when required.
Carry out the role of Disclosure Officer, or deputy, when required for major incident enquiries in accordance with the MIRSAP document.
Obtain and execute search warrants under Section 8 of PACE and seize evidence and to apply to judges for warrants to gain access to confidential material.
To liaise with other forces and outside agencies in relation to the gathering and preparation of evidence, the interviewing of witnesses and offenders
To perform any other Investigative roles as required by the organisation after the necessary training and experience has been gained.
About you and your experience
PIP 2 accredited with recent experience of dealing with serious sexual offences.
Working within an environment of dealing with the public
Previous experience of the judicial systems (within a police force, solicitors or criminal courts environment
Experience in investigating matters and carrying out interviews
Statement taking and/or Video Recorded interview trained
