Our team is expanding! We’re looking for a motivated, organised, and proactive individual with strong communication skills to join the Bird Aware Essex Team.
Bird Aware Essex raises awareness of overwintering and breeding birds, encouraging responsible enjoyment of the coastline. We work across nine Special Protection Areas and the Essex Coast SAC, from the Thames to the Stour Estuary.
The project is a partnership led by twelve Essex councils, Essex County Council, Natural England, RSPB, and Essex Wildlife Trust. For more information about Bird Aware Essex view our website www.birdaware.org/essex/
This exciting role supports our cross-county project, engaging with communities, schools, and visitors to protect the internationally important birdlife along the Essex coast.
Working across the Essex coastline, the successful applicant will be experienced in communicating and engaging with a wide range of people, bringing a passion for conservation and inspiring positive behavioural change, to reduce the impacts of recreational disturbance to coastal birds and their habitats.
As a Coastal Ranger, you will be part of an on-the-ground ranger team, undertaking patrols, delivering a varied programme of engagement activities and events, building effective relationships with landowners, community organisations and recreation clubs in coastal communities and deliver on the ground projects.
The successful candidate will be capable of working in a physically active environment through all weathers, so a passion for the great outdoors and wildlife is essential. A full, clean driving licence and access to own transport is also essential as the role will involve regular travel to sites along the Essex coast.
