Job Title: Science technician Job Location: Haybridge High School Salary: Scale 3 (5-6) £25,583-£25,989 pro rata (actual salary £17,840-£18,123) Hours: 18 hours per week, term time only plus 5 training days Closing Date:Are you ready to make a difference in an organisation where ambition, collaboration, and innovation drive every decision?About the role: We are seeking to appoint a science technician to work as a member of the support team providing practical support and advice to teaching and learning in the science department.
The science technician will have responsibility for: • the preparation and laying out of the apparatus, equipment and other materials for demonstrations in classes • the cleaning, maintenance and simple repairs of apparatus and equipment along with the storage and labelling of it • maintaining Health and Safety requirements, including COSHH regulations to an appropriate level and ensuring that staff and student adhere to them
Our successful candidate will have the following experience, skillset and qualifications: • Achieved (or currently working towards) an A*-E grade in a science related A-level plus an A*-E grade in A-level maths OR the Extended Diploma L3 in Applied Science at grade DDD or better • At least 5 GCSE A*- C/9-4 grades including science, English language and maths • Willingness to undertake further professional development • Appropriate knowledge of first aid • Ability to perform basic calculations for making chemical solutions
The post is permanent for 18 hours per week, term time only plus the school training days and reports to the Lead Science Technician.
