Summary

We are recruiting for Environmental Health/Food Safety Officers within our proactive Public Protection Team. We have a short-term vacancy due to maternity leave which will expire on 31.03.2026. You will be working within a very experienced, professional, friendly team of officers who keep the element of ‘team’ work at the very heart of what they do.

You will carry out a range of duties including:

Food safety and standards inspections
Food sampling
Investigating complaints and infectious disease cases
Providing advice and preparing enforcement notices and reports
You will manage your own case load responding to both proactive and reactive demands in a fast-paced environment. The role involves assessing intelligence, conducting investigations, and working collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies such as the FSA and UKHSA.

This is a hybrid role, with a base at one of our council offices (Chester, Winsford, or Ellesmere Port) and the flexibility to work from home.
