Summary

GCSE and Functional Skills Maths Tutor

Location: Hagley Pay Rate: £30 - £35 per hour

About the Role

Are you a dedicated and experienced Maths Tutor passionate about helping young people succeed? We are seeking an exceptional tutor to join a school in Hagley and enhance the academic progress and maximise the achievement of students.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference by providing targeted academic support and giving every pupil the best possible chance to reach their potential. You will be instrumental in helping students gain the qualifications they need to progress into further education and their desired careers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, 1:1 tutoring sessions to a small caseload of 6 students at the school.
  • Provide tailored support in GCSE Mathematics (Higher and Foundation levels) and Functional Skills Maths.
  • Work according to a timetable created by the school.
  • Help students build confidence and gain the essential knowledge needed for work, further study, and everyday life.
  • Support pupils who may face barriers to learning and help them achieve their educational goals.
  • Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment where no question is too much trouble.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience teaching or tutoring GCSE Mathematics, with a strong understanding of both Higher and Foundation tier content.
  • Demonstrable experience with the Functional Skills curriculum. Functional Skills are a key alternative to GCSEs, with Level 2 being equivalent to a GCSE grade 4, and your expertise will be vital for student progression.
  • The ability to create bespoke programmes of support to meet individual student needs.
  • A genuine commitment to helping children and young people achieve positive outcomes.
  • Highly Desirable: A current DBS certificate registered on the update service.

What We Offer

  • A competitive pay rate of £30-£35 per hour.
  • A rewarding role where you can see the direct impact of your support.
  • A structured placement with all sessions taking place on-site at a school in Hagley.

If you are ready to equip children and young people for success with your dedicated tutoring, we would love to hear from you.
