Summary

Role Purpose
To support the smooth running of the customer service function within a label manufacturing business that supplies specialist labels to the chemical industry. The apprentice will learn how to manage customer enquiries, process orders, and provide professional and timely responses while developing an understanding of label products, compliance requirements, and supply chain processes specific to the chemical sector.

Key Responsibilities
• Act as the first point of contact for customer enquiries (phone, email, and in person).
• Support the processing of orders for chemical labelling products, quotations, and delivery documentation.
• Assist in resolving customer queries regarding product suitability, regulatory requirements, availability, and lead times.
• Learn and apply knowledge of label products, printing specifications, and compliance standards (e.g., CLP, GHS labelling).
• Maintain accurate records in company systems (CRM/ERP).
• Liaise with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure timely customer deliveries.
• Support the preparation of customer reports and updates.
• Handle complaints professionally and escalate where necessary.
• Promote a positive company image by providing excellent service and adhering to company values.

Skills & Qualities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Customer-focused with a professional and helpful attitude.
• Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office, email, CRM systems maybe).
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work as part of a team and build positive working relationships.
• Willingness to learn about label manufacturing, compliance standards, and the chemical sector.
• Problem-solving approach and proactive mindset.

Entry Requirements
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade 3/D or above (or willingness to achieve during apprenticeship).
• Keen interest in customer service and developing a career in the manufacturing and chemical sector supply chain.

Training & Development
• Completion of Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard.
• On-the-job training in customer service systems, processes, and product knowledge.
• Functional Skills in English and Maths (if not already achieved).
• Mentoring and support from experienced colleagues.

Career Progression
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, potential progression routes include:
• Customer Service Advisor (Level 3)
• Sales Support Administrator
• Account Management

Working Conditions
• Full-time apprenticeship (minimum 37 hours per week).
• Office-based with occasional visits to production and warehouse areas.
• Standard working hours Mon–Thurs, 9am–5pm – Friday 9pm -4.30pm
