As Switchboard Operator, you will provide an efficient and responsive service, maintaining a courteous and professional approach at all times whilst on Trust premises.

You will undertake all necessary duties to ensure the effective operation of the service, in line with health, safety, security, Company, and Trust policies.

The Role

Handle incoming calls and face-to-face queries promptly and politely, maintaining accurate records.
Operate and maintain bleep, radio paging, ID cards, keys, and on-call information systems.
Distribute calls, tasks, and reports effectively, ensuring all are completed in line with Trust and company procedures.
Follow emergency procedures for major incidents, fire, bomb alerts, and medical emergencies.
Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with data protection, health, safety, and company policies.
Attend meetings, training, and reviews, identifying personal development needs.
Report faults, defects, or safety concerns promptly and undertake other reasonable duties as required.

About You

Strong communication skills with the ability to deal effectively with patients, staff, and members of the public.
Professional, polite, and approachable manner at all times.
Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, particularly in emergency situations.
Basic IT literacy and ability to operate telephony and paging systems (training will be provided).
Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and undertake a range of duties as required.
Commitment to confidentiality, data protection, and delivering high standards of customer service.
A team-oriented attitude with the ability to work well with colleagues and other stakeholders.
