The Role

Prospero Teaching are looking for a compassionate and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to work full-time in a specialist provision in the Chester area.

This role involves supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), many of whom have complex medical needs, physical disabilities, and non-verbal communication. You will work closely with class teachers, therapists, and support staff to provide personalised care and education in a nurturing environment.

This is a long-term opportunity, ideal for someone with a strong understanding of complex needs and a genuine desire to make a difference.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD

Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility (including hoisting, where required)

Support students with communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, or assistive technology

Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment

Work closely with the class teacher and wider multidisciplinary team

Requirements

Experience working with children or young adults with PMLD or complex needs

A patient, resilient and caring approach to support

Willingness to assist with personal care and physical support tasks

A valid Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
