Summary

Join our dedicated Student and Library Services team as a Retention Support Officer, where you'll provide one-to-one support for students facing mental health or welfare challenges, respond to urgent incidents, and deliver tailored support for care experienced students. This is a vital role in enhancing student wellbeing and shaping inclusive, responsive support services across the university.

We are looking for someone who:


Has experience providing one-to-one support to individuals with mental health, wellbeing, or welfare needs.
Can respond calmly and effectively to urgent situations and incidents involving student wellbeing and welfare.
Understands the challenges faced by care experienced students and can provide tailored support to meet their needs.
Is empathetic, approachable, and able to build trust with a diverse student population.
Can work collaboratively with colleagues across student services and the wider university.
Is proactive in identifying service improvements and contributing to the development of inclusive support strategies.
Can provide pastoral level support to a wide range of students

The position we are filling is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and a satisfactory DBS disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required as part of our clearance procedures.

Please be advised that due to the minimum salary thresholds imposed by the UKVI, this post will not qualify for university sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route.
