Summary
To act as a Clinical Expert within the field of Nuclear Medicine taking responsibility for all aspects of Clinical work within the Nuclear Medicine department and working together with others in the team to provide a high quality and effective service. Act as an IR(ME)R Practitioner (ARSAC License holder) providing support to the Nuclear Medicine service. There will be a requirement to take part in planned out of hours ARSAC cover for advice and guidance which will attract an additional payment supplement. For candidates with a radiology background, there will be the opportunity to develop or maintain a second subspecialty interest. The diagnostic on-call is approximately 1 in 22-24, with a first on SpR and availability of full workstation PACS@home; a separate Interventional Radiology on call is in place. Leadership & Governance: a. Ensures service delivery by the department is within the resources available. b. Helps manage demand and prioritises imaging services on the basis of need. c. Demonstrates excellence in patient quality care. d. To cover for radiologists as required during time of leave in order to maintain a good service. Interpersonal and Communication Skills: a. The post holder must be willing to join an established and collaborative department which involves working closely with colleagues to provide a comprehensive and cohesive service. b. Contribute to the design and implementation of the imaging/Nuclear Medicine service by applying the latest evidence and delivering reasoned proposals. c. Have good radiology report writing skills and be able to communicate effectively with clinical colleagues. Develop and maintain effective networks in the region and beyond to enable best practice to be identified and implemented by the Trust. d. The post holder must have well-developed listening and communication skills and be able to deal effectively with a wide range of clinicians, managers and professionals both within and external to the Trust. Planning and organising: a. Be willing to be involved with development of the Nuclear Medicine service. b. Contribute to the discussion on the future development of general imaging services within the department. c. Support the development of a culture of continuous improvement. d. Effectively plan, communicate and execute changes ensuring engagement and involvement. MAIN CONDITIONS OF THE POST The post is subject to the terms and conditions of the national consultant contract (England) as supplemented by the Trusts own terms and conditions. The appointee will be expected to work within the facilities available to the Group and any new service developments are subject to the provision of necessary resources within the Trust. There is an active appraisal and development programme and all consultant staff will take part in this process.
