We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and skilled Mental Health and Wellbeing Safeguarding Officer and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead . The information below provides more detail about the role.

Duties:

  • Provide initial triage and assessment for students presenting with significant mental health and wellbeing concerns, ensuring appropriate support and interventions are in place.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the safeguarding team, responding to disclosures, concerns, and referrals in line with statutory safeguarding duties and college policies.
  • Undertake risk assessments and develop individual support and safety plans for students at risk of harm to themselves or others.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with external agencies (including CAMHS, NHS services, social care, police, and voluntary organisations) to secure appropriate interventions and ongoing support for students.
  • Offer guidance, advice, and training to staff on identifying and supporting students with mental health and wellbeing needs.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records on safeguarding and wellbeing systems in line with college policy and data protection requirements.

Skills/Experience:

  • Experience working with young people and/or vulnerable adults in education, health, or community settings
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Minimum GCSE grade 4 / C in English & Maths or equivalent.
  • Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) or equivalent training
