What you’ll be doing

As Education Team Leader, you will lead our team to develop, plan and deliver curriculum-linked activities that enhance students’ understanding of nature and the environment.

You will be accountable for the day-to-day management of the education team, providing support and advice through induction, training, teaching observation and personal reviews.

Our team teaches a variety of courses in diverse outdoor teaching locations, to primary and secondary schools, colleges, and universities on science and geography education trips. This is an active role and will also include some hands-on teaching in the field.

As this role is part of the Senior Management Team at our learning centre, your previous management experience will aid you in assisting the centre manager to ensure our centre runs smoothly and is reaching its full potential. You will also be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our learning location in the absence of our Centre Manager.

The Field Studies Council Millport centre is situated on the Isle of Cumbrae in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland. Surrounded by nature, purpose-built teaching spaces, and comfortable accommodation with sea views, the centre offers an inspiring environment to lead, learn, and deliver engaging outdoor education. Its eco-friendly design and access to a Research Vessel allow staff and students to explore the marine environment in unique ways.

Who we’re looking for

We’re seeking someone with a degree or equivalent in a science-related subject, ideally with a Biology specialism, and a proven track record of managing staff and delivering results in an educational setting.

You’ll be confident leading and inspiring learners, designing engaging fieldwork, and supporting your team to achieve high standards. Hands-on experience delivering outdoor adventure activities is advantageous.

In addition, you’ll demonstrate:
