Summary


This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified clinician to join our expanding Acute Medicine service at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The postholder will provide senior clinical leadership across the 27 inpatient beds on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Urgent Medical Assessment Centre (UMAC), as well as supporting post-take review of medical patients within the Emergency Department.

You will be part of a committed team of Acute Medicine Consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team based at Arrowe Park Hospital. The Acute Medicine footprint is currently under review as part of a major reconfiguration, making this a particularly exciting time to join and contribute to the development of a redeveloping and evolving service. The role also offers the opportunity to support the department’s research agenda and to play a key part in shaping the future of our Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) model, including integration with system partners.

Applicants must be fully registered on the UK General Medical Council’s Specialist Register, or within six months of achieving CCT/CESR at the time of interview.

The principal duty of this post are;

1. To comply at all times with the GMC's guidance on 'Good Medical Practice' as amended or substituted from time to time.

2. To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

3. To undertake the duties defined within the attached recruitment pack.

4. To be accountable for the reasonable and effective use of Trust resources in the delivery of your duties, and to be professionally professionally accountable to the Medical Director.

5. On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust's corporate Induction.

6. To participate in the Trust's Statutory & Mandatory training programme.

7. To be responsible for the clinical management of all patients under your care.

8. To work flexibly with colleagues to meet the needs of the service and achieve Trust and national targets.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.
