Summary

Corpus Christi College is seeking to appoint an experienced and proactive Head of Governance to lead and evolve the governance framework within the College. The role will be reporting to the Busar and be responsible for shaping and overseeing governance strategy and providing support and guidance to the College’s leadership, Governing Body and Board of Trustees.

The Head of Governance will ensure there is compliance with statutory requirements set by the Charity Commission and will lead the development and implementation of governance policies and procedures.

The Head of Governance also will be Secretary for the Governing and Executive Body as well as other key committees and will play an essential role in the communication of decisions to Fellows, staff and the student body. They will be involved in the administration and coordination of the election and admission of new Fellows as well as the implementation of the allocation of Fellows’ office and residential accommodation.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in governance, ideally within education or the charity sector. They will have a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and statutory compliance, exceptional communication skills and a strategic mindset with attention to detail and commitment to ethical leadership.

They will have excellent IT skills and experience of managing all aspects of committee meetings including taking minutes. Degree-educated, ideally with a relevant qualification in governance/law.

This role will require the ability to work and collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders including the Fellowship, senior officers, staff and the student body. This will require excellent communication skills coupled with discretion, diplomacy and sound judgement.
