To liaise with Management on service provision and respond to any additional requests that are inside or outside the normal working routine. To be point of contact for resolution of operational issues relating to Waste and Linen room services. To attend mandatory training and any other training course deemed necessary to carry out the role. Ensure the Trust remains compliant with statutory commitments and current legislation for Waste. Appraise new legislation and advise Senior Management accordingly, to ensure the Trust meets its obligations at an acceptable level of risk. Develop and implement waste control measures and schemes to ensure targets set by the NHS Executive & Audit Commission are met; environmental pollution reduced; legislation complied with, and the service operates effectively and efficiently. To receive, plan and action ad hoc waste and decommissioned furniture requests, ensuring tasks are coordinated in an efficient, timely and cost-effective manner. Including office relocation within the Trusts main premises. Ensuring that all fire exists are clear of obstruction. (working closely with the portering coordinator). Ensure linen and laundry services are coordinated in an efficient, timely and cost-effective manner. Monitoring daily stock issues and ordering systems are in place to suite the needs of the service. Work independently and as part of a team, seeking clarification from management only when necessary. To observe Trusts policies and those policies directly overseen by facilities for example: Waste management & the linen and infected laundry polices. To report on and escalate any potential risks, issues and incidents that cannot be resolved on a day-to-day basis to the deputy facilities manager and suggest possible solutions. Work closely with management colleagues to drive efficiencies across your area of responsibility, prompting a culture of continuous improvement. Oversee and track financial control expenditure through effective financial management. Authorised financial signatory responsibilities in line with local purchasing ledger (Integra). Review and implement recommendations from external statutory and professional inspections e.g. Health and Safety Executive, CQC, EA, and clinical waste pre acceptance external auditor. Action recommendations within a timely manner. To assist the deputy facilities managers in carrying out risk assessments, requiring analysis of a range of facts and situations, the overall requirement will be the safety of staff, patients and visitors affected by facilities staff in the performance of their duties. Monitor clean laundry deliveries ,address issues , and create remedial action plans when required. Assist with the collection of data to enable annual statutory submissions, ERIC,PAM & PLACE returns and any other reports and returns as required To effectively plan waste collection porters and linen room team rotas, in conjunction with the waste manager to ensure an adequate number of staff are available to enable responsive service delivery. (healthroster), which requires moderate levels concentration required.
